Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Presents:
Sisters in Soul featuring Marcia Ball, Bettye LaVette & Maria Muldaur
A night of powerhouse soul from three amazing singers, each has her own expressive voice and style. This will be the concert of the season! Grammy nominee Marcia Ball blends sounds from the Texas-Louisiana border with New Orleans R&B and piano boogie. Her current CD "Peace, Love & BBQ" debuted at #1 in the Billboard Blues Charts. "Ball is a formidable musical force." - Billboard Magazine Bettye LaVette earned a 2008 Grammy nomination for her critically acclaimed CD "The Scene of the Crime" and is one of the greatest soul singers in American music today. She possesses an incredibly expressive voice that exudes a formidable level of strength and intensity and yet can appear vulnerable, reflective, and evoke heartbreak. Maria Muldaur’s roots are in the folk revival of the early '60s where she performed in Greenwhich Village with Bob Dylan, David Grisman and John Sebastian. Her 1974 hit "Midnight at the Oasis" charted at #6 in the Billboard Hot 100 and in the late 70s she joined Jerry Garcia's Band. She is currently recording again with Grisman and Sebastian for a record to be released in September.

Cab Calloway was a legendary fireball of talent, whose infectious “hi-de-hi’s” and “ho-de-ho’s” became the spirited cry of people wanting to be happy. The Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s A Tribute to Cab Calloway captures the essence of this American icon in a rowdy celebration of musicianship, mischief, genius, street smarts, and fun. Don’t miss this irresistible live show from a band whose aggressive, musically perceptive approach has helped them forge a successful fusion of classic American sounds from jazz, swing, Dixieland and big-band music.

Albany Pro Musica Presents:
The Great Choral Tradition
The great choral tradition continues with two memorable works by composers born centuries apart. The Requiem is one of Mozart’s most remarkable works, also one of his last; it was composed as the composer himself was slowly dying. In contrast, the rhythmic complexities and emotive phrasing of Hebrew prayer in Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms offer a sense of serene hope.
Furthering our Music in Education efforts, we will add the talents of selected high school “apprentices” and this season’s “adopted” choir: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Chamber Choir (Ann Derrick, director)
Also with “Words and Music” quartet: Melissa Coombs, Soprano Bailey Whiteman, Alto Terrance Johns, Tenor William Heim, Bass and Orchestra Pro Musica
