"Exploring Cello & Gayageum through Korean Folk Music"
Before Cello Gayageum's Music at Noon Performance on
Workshop Time: 10AM-11AM
CelloGayageum's compositions reflect a profound influence from various gugak (Korean traditional music) folk songs. After the artist's demonstration, students will have the opportunity to join in and sing along to several folk songs, immersing themselves in the distinctive jangdan (rhythm), garak (melody), and other essential elements that contribute to a deeper understanding of Korean music and culture.
CelloGayageum will showcase their original compositions, illustrating how two distinct yet harmonious string instruments, cello and gayageum, can collaborate to create unique and captivating sounds. Additionally, students will have the chance to participate in the 5,000-year-old Korean singing folk play and circle dance tradition called gang-gang-sullae.
THIS WORKSHOP IS FREE FOR ALL TO ATTEND.
Target Age Group: Students Grade 2 through 8, also open to the public with limited seating available.
