Who knew, back in 1988 when the Troy Music Hall Free Noon Concerts were proposed, that they would endure into the 2020s ? And that the person agreeing To donate the first ones would still be carrying on—pushing age 87?? Well, a Good Idea then is a Good Idea now.
Findlay Cockrell taught music and performed at UAlbany and throughout the whole capital District—he retired from the University after 40 years teaching there in June 2006.
He lives at the Beverwyck retirement Living Center in Slingerlands with wife Marcia, stays in touch with Daughter Dorothy (member of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, PA), with grand- Daughter Rachel (San Carlos, CA) and now with Great Grandson Lorenzo (b. November, 2020) whom we assume will show some music talent soon. In any case our Troy Music Hall May Noon Concert always ends my musical activity, just in time for the Summer of preparing for yet more. - Findlay
