Toss the Feathers performs a lively mix of traditional Irish music and songs.   We play for pubs, festivals, weddings, ceilis and concert venues around the Upper Hudson Valley/Capital Region, living our dream of being a live, local band that’s fun to hear and dance to.

We came together as a band in 2015, after having played together informally at local Irish traditional sessions and Irish festivals. The band lineup changes depending on the schedules of individual musicians, but typically: the band features Amy Schoch (violin, viola and vocals), Dave Smith (bouzouki, banjo and vocals), and David Pease (Irish flutes and whistles), with Don Meade (fiddle, banjo, harmonica, vocals, etc.) and Dan Mojallali (flute) joining when available.

We also perform a historical program, ‘Musical Postcards from Irish Albany and Troy’ that uses stories, songs and tunes to recount some of the remarkable history of the Irish people who settled in the Upper Hudson Valley. The most recent performance of the ‘Postcards’ program was at The Irish American Heritage Museum, on Quackenbush Square in Albany, November 2021.
