From Spain to the New World, featuring new Music Director and Conductor Carlos Ágreda and the Empire State Youth Orchestra.
The Empire State Youth Orchestra, led by new Music Director Carlos Ágreda, opens its November concert celebrating the diversity of the “New World”. The celebration begins with the culture and stories of Spain, including Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol” (intended by the composer to “glitter with dazzling orchestral color”) and Rossini’s “Overture to the Barber of Seville”. Musically illustrating traditions and dances that traveled together with the Spaniards to the American continent, these pieces showcase a huge and beautiful mixture of cultures. From Spain we move to the Americas, where the orchestra will perform Silvestre Revueltas’ “Sensemayá” and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”, celebrating the beauty and homogeneity of American Diversity.
Music Director Mr. Ágreda will lead a pre-concert presentation and discussion in the concert hall from 6:30-7:00, with the concert starting at 7:30. Come and celebrate with us this exciting, adventurous concert and pre-concert event, sure to be enjoyed by
