The final concert of APM’s 41st season will feature the profound, humanist masterpiece of Brahms, his Ein deutsches Requiem, or A German Requiem. In contrast to many traditional requiem masses, this seven-movement piece focuses on the living, beginning with text from the Beatitudes: “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” This concert will invite the audience both to remember those lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to comfort those who survived. Albany Pro Musica will share the stage with Orchestra Pro Musica and guest soloists Laquita Mitchell, soprano, and Michael Chioldi, baritone. The concert will open with Schumann’s sparkling Piano Concerto in A minor, performed by Marcos Daniel Flores-Caraballo.
